Abakaliki street: Gov Obiano insists no going on name change
The crisis between Govs Obiano and Umahi in one hand and Ebonyi state and Anambra state in the other hand is far from being over.
Gov Obiano today at Awka, through his Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Hon Don Adinuba stated that the Ebonyi State House of Assembly has no jurisdiction to give ultimatum to Anambra state.
The Commissioner for Information while addressing news men at Awka, said that Ebonyi Assembly can not dictate for another state of equal power.
The Commissioner was reacting to the 7 days ultimatum issued by the Ebonyi state House of Assembly to Gov Obiano to revert the renaming of Abakaliki street Awka.
Gov Obiano renamed the popular Abakaliki street to Club street which has caused diplomatic dispute between the two sister states.
Gov Umahi and the people of Ebonyi state said they are not happy that Abakaliki street which was gazetted long time ago was renamed because Abakaliki people are not qualified to answer such name of a major street in Awka.
Gov Obiano has since named another street, Abakaliki street but ndi Ebonyi still insist that it is either Obiano reverts to the old street or they retaliate.
However, the Anambra Commissioner for Information was not clear on whether the state will ignore the ultimatum or obey it.
